Project description
The growing spread of mobile devices and the diffusion of social media platforms have changed the way people communicate, search for new information and create new relationships. Yet, this has raised several new concerns about users' privacy and safety on online social networks (OSNs), especially for fragile users (in terms of age, education, culture, etc.). This is even more complex if we consider that people have different levels of perceptiveness about the correctness and safety of online behaviours. In this context, this doctoral project aims to investigate how social media platforms can empower their users, especially the vulnerable ones, and guarantee them a safer experience, by exploiting the interdisciplinary and international nature of this doctoral school.
